We provide several forms of massage depending on your preferences and reasons for having the massage. Unless otherwise specified, all sessions last approximately 45 minutes.
We believe massage to be an excellent method of releasing tension and giving that feeling of wellbeing we all look for. However, Massage is not the be all and end all. It opens up the pathways for further healing but rarely is Massage alone enough. That is why we encourage you to undergo the KCA if you are suffering with any particular problems.
Sports Massage
This is the hands on application of soft tissue manipulation with the intention of enhancing sporting performance.
Sports Massage is generally deeper and can be more vigorous than most people are used to. You may even find it uncomfortable. The idea is to get deeper into the tissues to release any adhesions, improve blood circulation and stretch the tissues. We utilise a lot of stretching with our Sports Massage as we find this gives you better results.
Remedial Massage
This is using Massage to work on specific problems such as spasm or knotted muscles. Again, prepare for this to be uncomfortable.
We would usually apply heat packs to the area to be worked first to relax the muscles, improving blood circulation to the area and making it easier to work. We also use techniques such as Specific Stretch, Specific Soft Tissue Mobilisations, or Muscle Energy Techniques to work any injury out.
SLM Bodywork
This is a full body deep tissue Massage like no other!
After an initial posture check in your underwear, then a prone leg length discrepancy check on the couch, you will have heat applied to your back for up to 10 minutes to relax. With just one towel covering your pelvic area, we work in clockwise rotation around the body working gradually deeper.
The aim is to work the whole body to release compensations and not to linger on any one area for too long.
This session lasts 75 minutes and we really do suggest you don’t plan anything to energetic following this treatment.
Following any Massage session, especially where the back and neck have been worked, we advise you to relax and drink plenty of water. You may feel very tired and/or thirsty. This is your body working to heal itself and it needs this downtime to aid this process.
Over the following few days, you may feel sore where the muscles have been worked. Again, this is very common and will soon pass. Just take things easy and follow the advice we give at your session.
