Martin Haley is a Corrective Exercise Specialist working with people who suffer from a range of Musculoskeletal issues. Martin was formerly an International level distance runner and his interest in helping others stemmed from when he became frustrated in the standard of care he received when suffering with various sporting injuries.

One particular knee problem lasted almost 2 years and he went from therapist to therapist spending a few weeks/months with each (and a fortune!) getting the same treatment every session and no results. He eventually found a Physiotherapist (and fellow runner) who used a different approach – more manual or hands on and nothing like your traditional Physio would use. He assessed then used some techniques that brought tears to the eyes and then gave some training advice. Although Martin could barely walk the following two days, everything felt different. On the third day, when the bruising was easing and the pain subsiding, he went out for his first pain free run in 2 years!

A few years later when now using a different Physio (the last chap moved away), she was running a Sports Massage Training School. This seemed a good idea in the sense it would give Martin more information on how to prevent his issues and help some colleagues as well

On completing the course, Martin travelled to the States with one of the tutors and spent almost a month there learning new skills. He quickly found that runners were becoming switched on to the benefits of Sports Massage for its preventive measures and an aid to recovering from training. Soon these “clients” were asking for treatment and rehabilitation but this was at the time, beyond his skills

Martin then studied fitness qualifications in order to help clients use Exercise Therapy to recover, then Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation and since those early days of 1993, has not stopped learning and improving his skills to benefit others.

Some of the teams Martin has worked with include Barry Town AFC during their wonder year of 1994 when winning the Welsh League and Welsh Cup, then Inter Cable-Tel AFC. Martin covered many Welsh Athletics meetings and travelled with both the Junior and Senior teams around Europe in the mid 90’s. He also worked for many seasons  with his local rugby club, Barry RFC

Martin is now one of only a handful of Kinetic Chain Assessment Specialists at Level 3 in the UK. The KCA is a thorough, full musculoskeletal assessment checking how your body functions statically and during movement. It also looks at other factors such as Hydration, Nutrition and Endocrine (hormone) function. To find out more about our KCA, check out its own page HERE

You see, Martin knows what it is like to be messed around and kept returning for treatment without any significant improvement. If you’re not getting improvement, the problem has either been mis-diagnosed or YOU are doing something to negate the treatment. You can be assured this won’t be case when using Martin Haley Physicalsolutions. You absolutely must Assess; if you’re not, you’re guessing

Treatment will consist of a range of modalities such as Soft Tissue Release, Fascial Release, various Stretching methods, Heat, Deep Tissue Massage, Ultrasound and Exercise. At our Private Studio, we have a fully equipped functional gym and rehab area
